Do you omit a heavy or slight ammonia body odor when your sweat? Has anyone ever told you that you smelled like ammonia? If you have then don’t worry, it’s most likely something you’re eating. The good news is that it’s usually quite easy to get rid of.

If you are eating a high protein, low carbohydrate diet, then it is only natural that you will have unpleasant, ammonia smelling sweat. The reason for this is that ammonia is a result of the nitrogen breakdown of amino acids in the body. Instead of using carbohydrates for energy, your body uses these amino acids present in proteins when you are eating a protein rich diet. When this happens, nitrogen atoms are chemically stripped of the amino acid molecules.

After this, the nitrogen passes on through the kidneys to be processed accordingly. Urea is formed in the kidneys for excretion. Urea plays a very important part in human metabolism. It’s when your kidneys cannot properly handle the overload of urea that the nitrogen is excreted through your skin as ammonia. Thus giving you that wonderful ammonia body odor.

By including carbohydrates to serve as fuel for exercising, you can easily take care of your ammonia body odor. A good way to do this is by eating a pre-workout snack high in wholesome carbohydrates and a small amount of healthy fat. After your workout, remember to replenish lost protein, carbohydrates, and fats.

Ammonia body odor is caused by an overload of urea excretion by the kidneys. If you do something about this overload, you can solve your ammonia body odor problems. Anytime you subject your body to high amounts of protein without proper ratio to carbohydrates, you will have ammonia smelling sweat. Until the body gets used to a more properly ratio of food groups, n easy way to control your foul body odor is by showering immediately after working out or if you can shower anytime you begin to smell. Also, be sure to include a good deodorant/antiperspirant to prevent the overload of ammonia smelling sweat before it happens.

Armpit sweat is never a good topic of conversation. When you hear anyone talking about it, it’s usually because someone has noticeable body odor. It’s normal to sweat, especially if you’re active, you’re in a hot environment, or you’re nervous, fearful, or anxious. You can stop sweaty armpits by using a store-bought antiperspirant/deodorant.

If an over-the-counter antiperspirant/deodorant does not solve your sweaty underarm problem, then you can always try using a formulated body powder as well under there. If you sweat for no apparent reason, either emotional or physical, then you could suffer from a disorder known as hyperhidrosis.

If you suspect that you suffer from over-excessive sweating, then it is important to get an accurate diagnosis, because there are ways to treat it easily. The treatments vary in severity and response of symptoms to medications. They include prescription antiperspirants, medications, iontophoresis, and surgery for only the most severe and unresponsive cases.

Underarm sweat is completely normal and so isn’t other bodily sweat. If we didn’t sweat, we’d overheat and die. You can help stop your sweaty armpits by trying out various types of store-bought antiperspirants/deodorants. Not all are created equal – some will work better for you then others. Again, if you think you may have more than just a normal sweating problem, talk to your doctor about it and they can help you.
